A painting created by Maggie Kamphausen, inspired by the AACC (Asian American Christian Collaborative)

“As an attendee of this event of AACC’s Patchwork Event, I was moved most by the space the team created for us to recognize that God carries all the hurt, anger, and pain that comes from not being “enough” in human terms: that we can believe we have to prove our belonging to specific parts of our radicalized identities. I chose to use transparent pain and let the canvas breathe because God, unlike humanity, is big enough to hold all the parts of our identities that can feel like they are in competition with each other: the red hot anger, deep blue lament, and yellow moments of belonging and joy that are part of finding ourselves and communities that make us feel whole”
